My holiday is over....

(boo hoo!)

Yes, I know its hard to believe but my summer of

sewing, 46 days of it, has come to an end!

I had a little "R and R" at the beach

over the Australia Day weekend,

except I didn't get much beach weather!

(Not complaining considering the extreme conditions including bushfires and flooding other parts of the country are experiencing!)

Mr. PnP came home from his cycling sojourn with a

lovely gift for me...

I did a little fabric shopping....

and made this drawstring bag...

out of some pretty laminated floral...

I want to start sewing the eyes to

my "Ginger Kisses" quilt this week,

work commitments permitting!

Happy days!

Just need to decide on the colours I want to use and

gather my fabrics!

All arcs have been completed...

I am now working on the joining squares and

adding the spotted 'eyes'!

Q is for...

quiet!

(This is a little paper pieced block- all 5" of it!)

With Mr. PnP away on a cycling trip....

and two more mid-week Tennis shifts for me,

it's pretty quiet around here!

I have managed to get "Trip Trap" together...

I decided to go with the conventional layout...

Nice to have it together, really!

I hope to get a bit more sewing done tomorrow!

What are you working on this week?

Happy sewing!

Tennis-3, Sewing-1

After three shifts at the Australian Tennis Open....
Before the crowds descended on Monday....

Tuesday evening...
Wednesday, 5pm
 Wednesday, 7pm
Sometimes this is the only view of the tennis I get!

I've had little time and even less energy to sew!

I did, however manage to finish my skirt on

Sunday.....

(Better photos coming!)

and, yesterday, start another for my sister!

This skirt pattern from "Sew Serendipity" is SO

good...

Clear instructions, excellent diagrams and accurate

pattern pieces!

I can highly recommend it!

I have today off, so I'm off to sew....

I'll see you after my next three shifts!

Happy days!

Giving and Receiving....

I received a couple of special gifts for Christmas....

A new quilting book...

which I am really enjoying reading!

and this sweet embroidery!

And I gave this Art Folder...

to a friend, made with a tutorial by Thimbelina.

Finally the "Dog's Breakfast" quilt is being donated....

I made this in 2011, but have never had the energy to complete it!

to the Tasmanian Bushfire Appeal, written about here!

Right-o, I'm off to work the first day of the tennis!

WIP Wednesday

In an effort to remain accountable, I am going to do

regular and organised WIPS posts in 2013, based on

my UFO list!

*  *  *
So here goes....

Scrappy Tripalong Quilt-now called "Trip Trap"

(Can you guess why?)

25 blocks completed....

This probably won't be the final layout, but it is being

put aside for a while...

...another block finished.

Two more like this to go!

The blue arc is new!
Some definite design decisions have been made!

I did take it out to look at !

And considered chucking it!

NO PROGRESS-

AMH Feather Quilt (main fabric purchased)
I want to learn to knit socks this year!
(not strictly a UFO because I haven't even started yet!)

NEW PROJECT-

I've been wanting to make a skirt for some time!

Today I found the perfect fabric!

The sewing frenzy may be curtailed next week...

The Australian Open starts!

What WIPS have you been working on?

Further Adventures of Herman, the Seam Ripper!

I trust that 2013 doesn't prove to be the Year of the

Seam Ripper!

Herman is cute, I admit!

(a bit more about him to come....)

But he and I have a turbulent relationship!

Take, for example our recent run-in!

This was meant to be the top right 'corner'!

I am nearing the finish of my major EPP project....

(previously known as "Jazz Hands"

-never liked the name-

but now known as "Nearly a Rainbow")

and was putting half blocks together with full ones,

when....

I discovered that my half block wasn't really a half

block!

Ugh! (I have had that problem before!)

Needless to say Herman has being doing his job

admirably!

Now I have a right angled corner!

Ah, that's better!

Now onto the next three!

Happy days!

PS: A number of followers were wondering where I got Herman (named after my German grandfather).  My LQS, where I bought him has now closed down, so after some googling and research
I found an online store!
"Little Quilt Store" in Queensland, make them!
Go here to buy your very own Herman!

I jumped on...

the Scrappy Tripalong bandwagon!

I knew I wanted to make a scrappy quilt this year,

and what better time to start!

This was my first block.

The process is a fun one...

Besides choosing fabrics, there are other design

decisions to be made...

like where will the predominate colour go?

And....

playing around with the final layout!

Besides, Herman, my seam ripper,

gets to be properly appreciated in the process!

(As opposed to being cursed as he usually is!)

6 blocks down, 19 to go!

I now have ten UFO's to work through during 2013....

1.  Scrappy Tripalong Quilt
2.  Museum Medallion Quilt
3.  Almost a Rainbow Quilt
4.  Ginger Kisses Quilt
5.  Radioactive Quilt
6.  AMH Feather Quilt (main fabric purchased)
7.  Helen's Bag
8.  Reindeer Games Embroideries
9.  Purple Knitted Sweater
10. I want to learn to knit socks this year!

(That should keep Meredithe happy!)

What's on your list for this year?

Or have you jumped on the Scrappy Tripalong

bandwagon!

Happy sewing!

What are you wearing today?

If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, you might

choose your warmest coat....

But if you lived in the Southern Hemisphere,

where in Melbourne,

we are going to be experiencing a heat wave over the

next week....

you might choose this white linen dress,

made from this pattern,

My first two finishes for 2013!

And this is my first 'start' for the year...

Yes, I have jumped on the bandwagon of the

"Scrappy Trip Along"!

I was looking for a quilt that might use up some of

my scraps...

Just as well, because these arrived in this morning's

mail!

16 fat 1/8ths from Pink Castle Fabrics,

my prize for winning the Australasian section of the

Travelling Pic Stitch Along!

Another 2 yards of delicious fabric!

Back to the scraps......

Happy sewing!
